Polycystic Ovaries

Polycystic ovaries effect 20% of women but only a fifth with this condition will have symptoms of irregular cycles, pain, acnee, hirsuitism and infertility. This can be diagnosed by measuring hormones and ultrasound.

Treatments are hormonal, medications or surgical. With overweight patients weight reduction is essential.

Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes. Endometriosis can affect women of any age. It's a long-term condition that can have a significant impact on women's life and well being. It can also effect fertlity by causinng cysts, blockage of the tubes, inflmation and reducing ovarian reserve.

Menstrual Disorders

  • Menorrhagea (Heavy Bleeding): This may be caused by hormonal imbalance which can be treated medicaly, or can be treated by hysteroscopy if it is caused by polyps or fibroids

Uterine Fibroids and Polyps

Fibroids and polyps are major causes heavy bleeding, pain and infertility. Removing the polyps by a hysteroscopy and the fibroids by myomectomy it helps restore the ability to conceive.
